JENAWI.COM | Taliabu — The Integrated Service Post (Posyandu) of Bapenu Village, South Taliabu District, Pulau Taliabu Regency, North Maluku, once again held its regular monthly activity at the village hall on Thursday (September 4, 2025). The event was attended by dozens of mothers and toddlers, focusing on improving basic health services, particularly for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and young children.
The Head of Bapenu Village, Zunaedy, emphasized the importance of Posyandu as the frontline in safeguarding community health.
“We hope that with the presence of Posyandu, maternal and child health in Bapenu Village will continue to improve. Community participation is very important in supporting this activity,” he said.
The program began with a health counseling session delivered by the village midwife, Hj. Salina, who highlighted the importance of immunization, balanced nutrition, and maternal and child health care.
“Immunization is crucial to prevent various infectious diseases in children,” she explained.
After the counseling session, toddlers underwent health checks, including weight measurements and height assessments. Health cadres recorded the children’s growth data as an early detection effort for potential nutrition problems.
In addition, Posyandu also provided supplementary food services for toddlers and pregnant women. This program is part of the village government’s strategy to reduce stunting cases in Bapenu.
The routine Posyandu activities not only provide direct benefits to the community but are also expected to serve as a model for other villages in optimizing basic health services at the local level.
